In 1992, I opened St. Matthews Auto with $3,000 in savings and one bay in a strip mall parking lot. My philosophy was simple: treat every customer like they are family.
I had seen too many shops try to upsell unnecessary repairs, use cheap parts, or talk down to customers who did not know a carburetor from a catalytic converter. That was not going to be us.
Three decades later, we have grown to six bays, four ASE-certified technicians, and a reputation that brings second and third generations of the same families through our doors. My son Jake joined full-time in 2015 and he is now our lead diagnostic tech. My daughter Maria handles the front desk and makes sure everyone feels welcome.
We still live by the same rule: explain the problem clearly, give you options, and never push a repair you do not need. If we cannot fix it right, we will tell you who can.
